Welcome to ATLAS!
ATLAS (Area Training for Librarians and Staff) is an organization of public libraries in Northeastern Illinois dedicated to provide networking and continuing education opportunities for librarians, staff and trustees.
The former MLS Zones 6, 8, and 9 have decided that beginning September 1, ATLAS will transform into a formal organization dedicated to providing continuing education and networking opportunities for its members. Membership is open to any RAILS public library, for an annual membership fee of $50, with the understanding that all continuing education programs will take place at the following public libraries: Crete, Flossmoor, Glenwood-Lynwood, Homewood, Lansing, Matteson and South Holland.
It’s up to individual library directors to decide if becoming a member is in your library’s best interests. Non-member libraries can still participate in continuing education programs for a higher fee.
In addition to ATLAS Presents, the CE component of ATLAS, we will also be holding a monthly Directors’ Discussion Group, open to all public library directors who are members of ATLAS. We generally meet the third Thursday of every month. Topics will include areas of commonality in system, state, and local levels.
